Philosophy

The Brandywine Heights Area School District believes that the purpose of an interscholastic athletic program is to provide learning experiences that will contribute to the personal, physical, and psychological development of the individual student-athlete. These learning experiences will be consistent with the educational goals of the Brandywine Heights Area School District and will complement its academic program.

The school administration, especially the athletic director and the principals, will provide a supportive environment for the coaches and athletes at all levels. All district administrators are committed to the philosophy stated herein.

Although success and training students in a sense of fair play are important, they are only part of the training provided to the young men and women who attend Brandywine Heights Area School District. The Brandywine Heights athletic program will focus its efforts on the development of each individual student as a person within the context of a sense of fair play and a good won-lost record.

While leading this year's BCIAA tournament, the Brandywine Heights junior found a plan that put him on the green and also on his way to a first county title.

Heydt two-putted for par there and played the final three holes 1-under for a 27-hole total of 6-over 112 (76-36) and a four-stroke victory over Matt Mulkeen (78-38-116), Wilson's No. 6 man, who shocked himself while leading the Bulldogs to their second straight team title.

October 29, 2009

Brandywine Heights is back on top of the Berks Girls Volleyball League.

The Bullets captured their sixth league championship and first since 2006 after defeating Berks II rival Holy Name 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-18) Wednesday at Wilson.

Brandywine Heights also avenged last year's championship match in which it lost to the Blue Jays in the final.

Bullets head coach Mike Pienta had a good feeling that his team was going to come home with the trophy. He based it on his team's play in winning the Pottsville Invitational Tournament last weekend, beating Allentown Central Catholic in the final.

In the end, Brandywine Heights beat the Warriors 3-1 (25-19, 26-24, 22-25, 32-30) for their sixth overall district championship.
