Thank you for supporting your child’s participation in interscholastic athletics. Please be sure to read through all this information, as it outlines a few changes that have been made for the upcoming school year. As you already know, students who participate in athletics have higher attendance rates, receive better grades, attain higher standardized test scores, are better socialized and are better prepared for the work force than other students. We are hopeful that your son or daughter will gain all these benefits and more from their participation in the athletic program at Brandywine Heights.
As of the 2008-2009 school year, the PIAA ruled in regards to physical exams permitting a student-athlete to receive one physical exam per school year as long as that exam is authorized after June 1stand is comprehensive in nature. If a student plays a second or third sport that year, the student will be issued a recertification form detailing any changes in his/her medical history from the time of the original exam. With respect for this rule change, there are a few guidelines outlined below:
