Duties of the Superintendent of Schools

The superintendent serves as the board's chief executive officer in administering district policies. He also advises the board on the needs and programs of the schools. The superintendent is a professional and his recommendations usually precede any board action related to the selection of professional staff, curriculum and instructional practices, school plant planning and financial Operations. The superintendent is appointed to a three, four or five year term.
