Volunteer Reading Tutors needed for Ready.Set.READ! Program

Help make a difference in a child’s life!  Volunteers are needed to tutor 2nd grade students who are struggling with reading at the Brandywine Heights Elementary School.  No previous teaching experience is required.  This opportunity is for anyone interested in volunteering weekly for one hour.  Current background clearances are required prior to assignment.

The Brandywine Heights Community Task Force

The Brandywine Community Task Force is a group of committed community members, parents, students and school district employees dedicated to helping the Brandywine community grow.  The mission of the Brandywine Community Task Force is to build a stronger community through education, engagement activities and outreach.  All are invited to attend events and meetings which are scheduled every second Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm in the Middle School Library.

Brandywine Community Library

The Mission of the Brandywine Community Library is to provide materials and services to help community residents of all ages obtain information to meet their personal, educational and professional needs. The library hopes to satisfy its member’s recreational and practical interests by the use of both traditional and emerging technologies.

We lend fiction, nonfiction, and large print books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, graphic novels, magazines, and more. We have nine public computers, a children’s computer learning center, and free Wi-Fi. We present weekly children’s programs, cultural and educational events for all ages, computer instruction, and a Summer Reading Program for toddlers through adults.
