What Do School Counselors Do?

  • Talk with individual students
  • Meet with students in small groups
  • Visits classrooms to teach lessons about things that will help you in school and out of school
  • Promote positive attitudes and choices
  • Aid teachers and parents in helping students
  • Coordinate efforts with other community and school programs
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Investigate and help to solve problems
  • Coordinate and help with PSSA testing
  • Screening students for gifted and learning support referrals
  • Help to promote a positive school climate with the 4th grade school climate committee
