Middle School Program

The Brandywine Heights Virtual Academy offers two options for students in grades 6-8

Through the Brandywine Heights Virtual Academy, the Brandywine Heights School District offers numerous online courses to satisfy student needs and specific situations. Students may choose to take all their courses online through Pearson Connections Learning and/or Edgenuity or choose to take a blending of online courses and courses in our brick and mortar school.

Our program provides a high quality, accredited online program for grades 6-8. Our online courses are designed to help students at every level of the achievement spectrum—from struggling readers to high achievers. With a flexible online format and sophisticated performance tracking tools, our lessons are easily customized to each student’s skill level and can be adjusted on the fly for the best results.

The virtual academy allows students in grades 6-8 to access their courses from the comfort of their own home. Because our courses are online, you will experience a flexibility that the traditional, structured classroom environment cannot offer. Students access their courses from home, the public library, or anywhere they have Internet access.

How do the online programs differ?

While all the programs are designed to help students reach their full potential, the platforms and educational methodologies used are quite different. The program is designed to help parents or guardians provide a more hands-on home schooling type environment for students. Pearson Connexus and Edgenuity are geared more toward independent student learning while providing access for parents to monitor their child’s academic learning and performance. Curriculum and textbooks are all online. To learn more about the online curriculum, please contact the BHVA Office.
