The Middle School K’Nex club recently traveled to the Berks County Intermediate Unit to participate in the 2025 STEM Design Challenge. Students were tasked to focus on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (UN Sustainable Development Goal 9) by designing a prototype that addresses a real-world problem related to infrastructure, transportation, or urban development. The goal is to inspire students to think about how cities, roads, bridges, and systems can be built or improved to be more efficient, sustainable, and accessible. Overall, the students did a great job!

🎲 Jenga... but make it educational! Today in Freshman Seminar, we took this classic game and gave it a stress-related twist. Students pulled a “stressor” card, each assigned a specific number of blocks to remove from the tower. Then, they evaluated how truly stressful their card was compared to others. In small groups, they ranked stressors from most to least stressful—but the real test? 👉 What actually made the tower fall? Was it the biggest stressor, or just the last one added? 🤯 To tie it all together, we introduced the phrase “the straw that broke the camel’s back”—helping students reflect on how stress builds up over time. Great discussions, critical thinking, and a little friendly competition? Sounds like a win!
