🚲 Help Us Build More Than Bikes—Help Us Build Community! 💙

Brandywine Heights Area School District is proud to bring back our annual staff community service tradition with a Community Bike Build Project before the start of the new school year!

In partnership with a Jason's Bikes (Mertztown) and generous community sponsors, our staff will assemble bicycles and helmets that will be gifted to students, families, and community members, providing opportunities for recreation, transportation, and healthy living.

We're looking for businesses, organizations, and individuals to help make this event possible! Sponsors can choose to fund a youth bicycle, toddler bicycle, provide helmets, or make a donation of any amount. Every contribution helps us put another bike into the hands of someone in our community.

Together, we can create lasting memories, promote wellness, and strengthen the connections that make Brandywine Heights such a special place to call home.

🌟 Interested in becoming a sponsor? Visit the 'News' section of our website to learn more about sponsorship opportunities and how you can make a difference.

SUN Bucks: Summer Grocery Benefits Available for Eligible Families

Families may be eligible for SUN Bucks, Pennsylvania’s Summer EBT program, which provides a one-time grocery benefit of $120 per eligible child to help purchase food while school is out for the summer.

Many eligible children will receive benefits automatically through an existing SNAP/TANF EBT card or a newly issued Summer EBT card. Benefits for Summer 2026 begin being distributed in early June.

Children who receive free or reduced-price school meals, SNAP, or TANF benefits are automatically eligible. Most children receiving Medicaid also qualify automatically. However, children receiving Medicaid through the Children with Special Needs category (PH 95) and children enrolled in CHIP must apply for SUN Bucks.

Benefits can be used at participating grocery retailers to purchase eligible food items.

For more information or to determine eligibility, visit the SUN Bucks website (https://www.pa.gov/agencies/dhs/resources/summer-ebt) or call the SUN Bucks FAQ Line at 1-877-762-1575.

Miles came into a fifth grade classroom and presented his Odyssey of The Mind train. Miles's team advanced to state finals from regional did not advance to the world finals, while doing so his team was recognized with a special award rarely granted: The Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award is a prestigious honor in the Odyssey of the Mind competition, recognizing teams or individuals for exceptional creativity, risk-taking, and innovative thinking beyond just solving the problem. The train they built runs on a combination of a baking soda air pressure piston and a electric motor. The kids ended up with a vehicle using an Arduino controller, infrared limit switches, solidnoid valves, geared timing belts, voltage regulation, PWM speed control, and a custom made crank shaft.
