Three students display their art awards

Every school year, the Berks County Intermediate Unit hosts an Art Show to showcase student work from all across Berks County. The Art Department at BHHS entered 88 student works created by 39 different students. The reception and awards ceremony was held on Sunday, April 10th. Two students were selected as first place winners for their entries into the art show.

Raegan Pilgert (Grade 12) won first place for her Black and White photography piece. She shared that photography is “...something that you can tell a story with. B&W photography helps capture life itself rather than a picture in color.” She started working with photography in middle school, but when COVID hit, she found it to be therapeutic to take pictures to see how everyone else was dealing with things and it prompted her to take B&W photography the following school year.

Reilly Rollman (Grade 12) won first place for her mixed media/ collage work. She shared that she has been painting since 2017 and enjoys painting people and their faces. Reilly stated, “I like how everyone looks different and I can paint it in the colors of my choice to show the differences.”.
