We are very excited to announce that the Brandywine Heights Community Task Force (founded in 2014) is evolving into the Brandywine Heights Education Foundation! An Education Foundation is established as a non-profit organization to provide funds for educational programs, scholarships and initiatives which are not funded by the normal operating budget.  The Brandywine Heights Education Foundation will partner with the Brandywine Heights Area School District but is it’s own separate entity committed to supporting positive connections between our schools and the community.

The Brandywine Heights Education Foundation Mission: A Foundation for Future Success.

The Brandywine Heights Education Foundation Vision:  Enhance, enrich and provide educational opportunities by building innovative partnerships through community connections.

The Brandywine Heights Education Foundation Board is comprised of 9 members:

  • Kristin Haring, President

  • Kelly Womack, Vice President

  • Amy Rohrbach, Treasurer

  • Lyndsay Levengood, Secretary

  • Maria Winkler

  • Bryan Rothermel

  • Andy Shuman

  • Prudence Miller

  • Steven Schwoyer

The Brandywine Heights Education Foundation has several areas of focus for the 2022-2023 School Year:

  • Too Good For Drugs: Funding donated to the School District to offset the cost to this key curriculum and education for students in grades K-5.

  • After-School Program:  This program is designed to provide a safe location for all middle school students after school four (4) days a week from 2:30-4:30 PM.  It is FREE to all Middle School students and run by three BHASD teachers and fully funded by the Education Foundation.

  • Scholarships: Scholarships focused on students involved in community service will be offered to graduating seniors.

  • Free Lunch Fridays: An important goal of the Foundation is focused on supporting students and families during the ongoing economic inflation period.  The District has a poverty level of almost 35% of students.  The Education Foundation is launching Free Lunch Fridays and will pay for the lunch of every student in the District beginning Friday, October 7 and every Friday thereafter until the end of the school year!

We hope you will visit the Brandywine Heights Education Foundation at the upcoming Homecoming event this Saturday and/or by visiting their website: bhedufoundation.org
